I decided not to use the spiky effects that I wanted to create when jumping as it will clashed with the dust effect. So I changed to create sweating effect on the character. When the character is always running and jumping, he will be sweating.
I did it almost the same way. By adding Ellipsoid Particle Emitter, Particle Animator, Particle Renderer and Particle Texture and tweaked the values.

Merging/Adding the animation layers:
I merge and edit the move script for the animations. So when the player is not pressing any keys, the character will stay still. When the player press the forward and backward keys(up & down arrows), the character runs. Lastly when the player press on the jump key(space bar), the character will jump.
